PM’s Mention of Uttarakhand’s Mana and Bagori Villages in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ a Matter of Pride: CM Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday listened to the 138th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ at the Chief Minister’s residence

Dhami said the programme provides a national platform to the positive efforts, achievements and inspiring initiatives of citizens, while also encouraging people to actively participate in nation-building

The Chief Minister said it was a matter of pride for Uttarakhand that Prime Minister Modi had made special mention of the state’s border areas during the programme

The Prime Minister noted that the first phase of the Census was being conducted even in the remote and snow-covered areas of Uttarakhand. During his address, he specifically mentioned Mana village in Chamoli district, regarded as the country’s first village, where the Census exercise began with 83-year-old Purnima Rawat

Modi also referred to Bagori village in Uttarkashi district, where homestay operator Hardev Singh Rana completed self-enumeration by entering his details digitally

Dhami said the Prime Minister’s decision to highlight examples from border villages such as Mana and Bagori was a matter of honour for Uttarakhand. He said these examples reflected the changes taking place in the state’s frontier areas, growing digital awareness and the active participation of local residents in nation-building

The Prime Minister described the Census as a national responsibility of every citizen and called upon people to extend their active cooperation to the exercise. Dhami also appealed to the people of Uttarakhand to provide accurate information during the Census and extend full cooperation in fulfilling this national responsibility

During the programme, Modi also recalled the 10th anniversary of the 2016 surgical strikes, highlighting the valour of the Indian armed forces and India’s firm policy against terrorism
